Primary 6, who are studying the Titanic, pupils enjoyed an exciting STEM investigation as they explored sinking and floating through a hands-on boat‑building challenge using ideas from the STEM AWARE programme. Working collaboratively, the children designed and shaped boats from tinfoil, then tested how many marbles each boat could hold before sinking, learning about buoyancy, weight and density in a practical and engaging way. The marbles helped pupils apply maths skills and make predictions, encouraging problem‑solving and critical thinking throughout the activity.
