Previous Minutes Minutes from the cluster meeting in September were accepted by the group. 2 Finance Alan stated that he was concerned about the clusters finances as there were will still some funds outstanding from the cluster pot~ Peter to chase up F&L contribution and Lynn to chase up Lisngelvins contribution. Rhonda is still to receive cluster money for Action For Children programme. Alan suggested that another meeting of a sub-group would be beneficial to determine if there is additional funding out there for our hub. Primary School Action Plan Peter endorsed the Accelerated Reading programme as F & L have started using it and he noticed how the children are enthusiastic about the programme. Allison shared the new pricing structure as there are now only 5 schools involved- 15 months for the price of 12 @ 5110.00 (this works to 852 per school). OAIPS will receive 896.65 to pay the programme in their school for this year and Mullabuoy to invoice Lisneal for 848 to subsidise what t5hey have paid for the programme. All schools have agreed to proceed with the programme with Allison to co-ordinate implementation. 4 Post Primary Action Plan Peter and Alan had a productive meeting where pupils from both schools explored a range of tablets. Peter shared some of these tablets with the group. They have decided to invest in Samsung galaxy as it is the most generic and useful. Peter has sources a supplier who will provide them for 135/unit. Second quote sourced is 30 tablets @130/unit- 10 tablets/school. I was suggested that the tablets be taken to Oakgrove College to ensure they agree with the selected product as Oakgrove were unavailable to meet previously. It was outlined how time with students will be crucial when implementing them into the schools to ensure students are familiar with them and can do basic things on them. Nigel asked about internet security if it can be accessed at home and it was suggested that schools could monitor the history monthly and perhaps contact Wallace to enquire how they monitor it. 5 Action For Children Rhonda shared progress report for the first 6 months of this financial year. The findings show that there are more girls being referred than boys at present. The majority of referrals are coming from primary schools. The report outlines how there is a spread in ages of the children referred but that there was a significant number of 5 year olds as schools are picking the children up early. Rhonda is to compile an evaluation for schools based on the month of September. Rhonda outlined how they have good links with the community and how it may be useful to have an advance notice of programmes to ensure no overlaps between Action For Children and the community sector. Alan suggested that a networking event may be useful to see what is available in the city and in the waterside~ look at having a family day. Rhonda informed the cluster about interest of another cluster buying into the programme and financing another full time and part time worker~ she will update us as necessary. 6 Louise Allen Activ8 The programme is going well. Lisneal starting tomorrow. 11-16 year olds can apply for small grants~ Louise to send the information to Allison to forward on to the cluster. Peace 3 This programme is to target nursery, primary and post primary and must have a community relations aspect. Louise to draw up a report for the next meeting. Louise highlighted a 5 day event which will take place for the Olympic torch and she will draw up more info for next meeting. 7 AOB Rhonda would be happy to look at other pots/funding available for next cluster meeting.
