Previous Minutes Minutes from the cluster meeting in October were accepted by the group. 2 Action For Children Rhonda shared an update of service provision and outlined the following: *Service is still very busy. *There is now a small waiting list and if this list continues to grow then the cluster will have to decide upon how to prioritise referrals. *Marty is doing teenage group work, with small groups as it works better with this age range, which is activity based involving therapeutic work. There will be a group running each term. *An early years programme will be running each term for parents with children aged 0-4 years and will focus on managing behaviour. *Clooney family centre run a mid years parenting programme. *Marty is training in Adolescent parent programme which will be open to post primary. Each of these parenting programmes ensures there is support for all age ranges. *Rhonda to make a link with WELB child protection team to make them aware of the Action For Children programme. *Rhonda highlighted how Gateway have been working well with the programme which is pleasing. *Pearl stated that within her setting she has noticed how Rhondas work is preventing issues going any further. *It was suggested how it would be interesting to contact Philomena McDermott to ascertain if there has been a difference in data from the Action For Children programme started. *There is a networking event on Wednesday 29th February which demonstrates the roles/services available. It will be in Clooney hall from 10am-1pm. *Action For Children are creating a safeguarding checklist. *The programme is piloting outcome star which is a visual way of supporting children and families in relation to their needs. Children/families plot on their stars and there are quizzes attached. Programmes are then developed based on the findings and a report is available at the end. See their webpage for further details. Louise Allen Louise shared an update on each of the initiatives *Positive Play- Playboard won the tender. This initiative is behind schedule and Louise is now asking that if a school is organised and ready to go with it that they contact her and priority will be givn to them *Olympic torch & DCAL programme- Steering group has been set up for the Olympic torch relay event. The event will be over 4 days with the relay on the Monday. It was suggested that a more co-ordinated approach between the board and the council. Louise is going to take on more responsibility as a board member to help organise it and disseminate information. Louise also attached information about ;Get Set which is beneficial to sign up to. Louise will keep the schools updated. *Young Leaders- Lisneal had final session on 25th Nov and Oakgrove are to send in their video and plan. 4 Culture Company Culture company is based in the Ebrington centre. As part of City of Culture a few programmes are in development to get children interested in new technology. Colin outlined 2 programmes which have funding: *Teaching divided histories- This is a history programme for post primary children in the Nerve Centre. Schools will link with schools internationally which are involved in conflict and they will make a film about their area and communicate it with each other. In addition to the history aspect children are developing technical skills with different sides of the community working together. *Primary schools Apple Mac suites- 10 Apple Mac suites are being offered to primary schools in the area. We have to determine, between the clusters, how to best organise the dissemination of these suites in a way that all children will benefit. It was also outlined how there is free teacher training available on features of Apple Macs i.e. Moving Image Art. Beverley suggested there could be problems with c2k in regards to Apple Macs. The training and implementation of this initiative will begin in spring time. *Colin to keep in touch and set up a sub-group to decide how to share out the computer suites. *Primary schools to meet as a subgroup to discuss the suites and the possibility of fixed and portable options. *Colin to email Allison in relation to contacting other schools. 5 Post Primary Action Plan Peter outlined the work the cluster are doing in regards to Android tablets to support children in year 8. He stated that the biggest downfall was that if internet access. Foyle cloud and Moodle were areas that were discussed that are available to post primary schools. Colin & Claire to talk to ILAX about the possibility of exploring Moodle. Beverley highlighted how the library service offer free e-books. 6 Primary School- AR programme Each school is currently underway with their training. Alan and Bridie have said that Lisneal cannot now directly pay AR for the primary schools invoices but that Lisneal had contacted each individual school to notify them of the new arrangements which are that each school is to pay their own invoices and then invoice Lisneal for the amounts paid. Allison will be in contact about the plans for the onsite training day. 7 AOB Alan doing Action plans in next 10 days and Allison agreed to look at Primary school plan when Alan forwards NIESIS details. Bridie highlighted the importance of ensuring that AR is detailed in all school development plans and that SDPs are detailed on cluster plans.
